Life At Our Home
At Merafield View, we believe quality of life is just as important as quality of care. It’s the small details that help people feel settled, comfortable and included — familiar faces, welcoming spaces, and time to enjoy the day at their own pace. Our home is designed for day-to-day wellbeing, with places to relax, spend time with others and take part in meaningful activities. Mealtimes are a key part of that too, with freshly prepared food made for our residents and served with real choice and flexibility.
Accomodation
Our bedrooms are designed to feel calm, comfortable and personal — with space, natural light and a reassuring sense of privacy.
- 40 purpose-built bedrooms, with lift access to all floors
- Many rooms with far-reaching views across the Plympton valley and towards Dartmoor
- TV in every room (many are smart TVs)
- Residents are encouraged to add personal touches to create a true “home from home”
- Daily housekeeping and room care to keep bedrooms clean, comfortable and well maintained
We can also accommodate short respite stays (subject to availability) for recovery, rest, or planned support. For comfort and accessibility, we also have bath and wet-room options, including facilities that support assisted bathing and hydrotherapy where needed.
Dining
Mealtimes are an important part of wellbeing — something to look forward to. Our on-site chefs prepare a varied selection of wholesome, home-cooked meals each day. We source ingredients locally where possible, to keep meals fresh, seasonal and familiar. Residents enjoy three nourishing meals daily, alongside snacks and a choice of hot and cold drinks throughout the day.
We support individual preferences and dietary needs — and wherever possible, residents can choose what they eat and when and where they’d like to enjoy it. Our team of HCAs are available to support residents at mealtimes whenever needed.
Activities and Outings
A good day includes connection, enjoyment and purpose. Our Activities Co-ordinator offers a varied programme shaped around residents’ interests, including:
- Games afternoons, quizzes and gentle group activities
- Hobbies, crafts and seasonal events
- Celebrations (birthdays and special occasions)
- Outings and day trips where possible — from local visits to shopping trips
- Quieter options and calm spaces for residents who prefer a slower pace
We encourage participation, never pressure — and make time for one-to-one moments as well as group activities.
Gardens & Outdoor Spaces
Fresh air and time outside can lift the mood and bring a welcome change of scene. Our gardens offer a safe, accessible outdoor space to enjoy throughout the year, with:
- Seating areas for relaxing with visitors
- Seasonal planting and pleasant views
- Accessible pathways to support mobility and confidence outdoors
Wellbeing
Wellbeing at Merafield View is about feeling comfortable in yourself, staying as active as possible, and enjoying a sense of connection. We offer gentle, inclusive wellbeing activities to support physical and mental health — such as group movement, gardening and pet therapy, supporting both physical and mental health. Where available, visiting hair, beauty and grooming services also help residents feel refreshed and confident.
Our social spaces make it easy to spend time with others, form friendships and feel part of a community — with quiet areas too when residents prefer privacy.
