F.A.Q.

Can we visit before making any decisions?

Contact us to arrange a convenient time to do so.

Do you offer nursing, residential and respite care?

Yes. We provide nursing care, and we also support residential and respite stays, depending on individual needs and availability.

What is your CQC rating?

We’re rated Good overall by the Care Quality Commission, with Outstanding in Caring. Read More

Do you accept local authority or NHS placements?

Yes — we welcome enquiries from local authorities and NHS pathways, subject to assessment, funding arrangements and availability. We work closely with families and professionals to understand needs, confirm suitability and agree the next steps.
We aim to make referrals straightforward and responsive. Whether a placement is urgent or planned, our team supports the process with clear communication, timely information and a focus on continuity — so everyone involved feels confident and the individual’s needs remain at the centre of decisions.

How quickly can someone move in?

This depends on care needs, the assessment process, funding confirmation and room availability. In urgent situations we will do our best to move quickly — contact us and we’ll give you a realistic timeline based on your circumstances.

What information do you need for an assessment?

To make an assessment efficient, it helps to share:
A brief summary of needs (mobility, personal care, cognition, behaviours, continence)

  • Medical background and current medications
Recent risk history (falls, pressure care, nutrition/hydration concerns)
  • Current support arrangements (home care, hospital discharge, family support)
  • Funding status
  • Any preferences that matter (routine, food, hobbies, communication needs)

If you have hospital discharge paperwork or a recent care assessment, that’s helpful — but we can still start the conversation without it.

How do you support families to stay involved?

We keep communication open and clear, and we welcome family involvement where appropriate. Families can discuss care plans, join reviews when needed, and speak with the team if anything changes or concerns arise.

How do fees work at Merafield View?

Because everyone’s needs are different, fees are confirmed after an initial conversation and (where appropriate) an assessment. This allows us to give clear, accurate information based on the level of support required — whether you’re enquiring privately or through a local authority or NHS pathway.

Weekly fees typically depend on:

  • Care needs and the level of day-to-day support required
  • Nursing needs and clinical oversight

Fees usually include:

  • 24-hour personal care
  • Accommodation in a fully furnished room
  • Utilities (heating and lighting)
  • Meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), plus snacks and drinks
  • Housekeeping and on-site laundry (excluding dry cleaning)
  • TV licence
  • Wi-Fi
  • In-house entertainment, activities and use of recreational spaces
  • Local social outings where appropriate
  • Funding rules and assessments can feel confusing. For clear, reliable guidance, we recommend Age UK’s care home funding advice: Read More
